18.10. Generator

GENERAL INFORMATION

1–the screw with a turnkey head;
2–pulley;
3–forward cover;

The generator develops a target current force 80 And and has the built-in electronic regulator of tension. It is established on a forward part of the engine and is put in action by a belt with four edges which puts in action and the fan with the thermorelay.

On the generator there are three plugs by means of which it is connected to electric system of the car. The plug B (the storage battery) settles down on the back party of the generator, and plugs (L) (lamp) and (S) (sensors) settle down on a lateral surface.

Plugs L and S have designations on the generator case.

Removal and installation

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the storage battery.
	2. Unscrew a nut from the plug B.
3. Remove a wire from the plug B.
4. Disconnect the electric socket from the generator.
5. Turn out an adjusting bolt.
6. Turn out a bolt of fastening of the generator.
7. Remove a driving belt from a generator pulley.
8. Remove the generator from the car.
9. Installation is carried out to sequences, return to removal.
	10. Adjust a belt tension with V-shaped crests. Deflection of a belt of a drive of the generator of the FE DOHC engine The new: 6,0–8,0 mm Being in the use: 7,0–9,0 mm Deflection of a belt of a drive of the generator of the DOHC T8 engine The new: 8,0–9,0 mm Being in the use: 9,0–10,1 mm Inhaling moment Bolt And: 19–26 Nanometers Bolt In: 38–53 Nanometers
Prevention Be convinced that wires of the storage battery are correctly connected. Do not use high-voltage devices, such as мегомметра for check of resistance. Remember that tension of the storage battery always moves to the plug B of the generator of an alternating current. Do not connect to "weight" contact of L at operation of the engine. Do not start up the engine while contacts of L and S are disconnected from the generator.
