For achievement of maximum efficiency of work of SRS (additional system of safety) on the basis of a safety cushion it is necessary to adjust correctly sitting and a steering wheel, and also to put on a seat belt. In case of collision the sensor registers the shock loading exceeding a preset value, and turns on generators, which fill safety cushions to protect the driver and the passenger.
The safety cushion is filled at strong front blow. The safety cushion is arranged so that it lets out gas at once after is filled not to block the review. The safety cushion does not work at side-winders or behind, and also when capsizing car.
Malfunction in system can be found by means of a control lamp of a safety cushion.
In good repair the lamp joins at inclusion of ignition and is switched off through 6–8 pages. In case of malfunction the lamp starts to flicker or remains included.
System operation
Type of collision of the car: front blow or blow at an angle no more than 30 ° at bigger, than it is specified below, speeds.
Speed of the car at collision: depends on rigidity of object to which there is a collision. If the object rigid (is not deformed), the system works at the speed exceeding 25 km/h, at strictly head-on collision.

Conditions at which the system does not work:
– lateral blow; – blow behind; – capsizing; – blow about a border; – blow from the bottom when driving with a high speed on the rough road; – collision when the key is not in the ignition lock (does not move a food). System components
The structure of system includes the safety cushion module, the control unit, a control lamp, conducting and knot of a spiral spring.
Safety cushion control unit
The control unit of a safety cushion works at a measurement basis in one point. Its structure includes the sensor of acceleration and the safety sensor. The block registers an impulse of shock loading and includes a safety cushion. Components:
– CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT and memory; – additional power supply; – sensor of acceleration and safety sensor.
The safety cushion works, when both the acceleration sensor, and the safety sensor register an impulse of shock loading, sufficient for inclusion. The additional power supply is provided in case at collision of a wire will be torn off from the battery. The system carries out self-testing of electric components and sockets by means of the CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT. At emergence of malfunction the control lamp of a safety cushion joins, and the code of malfunction registers in internal memory. For reading of contents of memory it is necessary to use the external module of diagnostics. Necessary functions for interaction with such modules of diagnostics are provided with the control unit.
The safety cushion can work only if the key is in the situation "VKL" (ON) or "AKKUMULYATOR" (ASS). For service of system it is necessary to establish a key in situation "is LOCKED" (LOCK) or to take out it from the ignition lock, to disconnect a wire from the negative plug of the battery and to wait not less than 1 minute. It is necessary to tighten carefully fastening bolts till the specified moment that the control unit or its bracket did not move, for example, at failure. The moment of an inhaling should be not less than 8 N of m.
Control lamp of a safety cushion
The control lamp of a safety cushion joins at key turn from the situation "ACCUMULATOR" in the situation "VKL" on 6–8 villages. Module of a safety cushion of the driver
The module of a safety cushion of the driver is established in a steering wheel. Generator
The safety cushion module at collision is filled as a result of ignition of firm fuel at which burning gas nitrogen is allocated. The detonator joins an electric current and the amplifier of ignition who, in turn, ignites fuel tablets ignites. The filter with a radiator cools and filters the gaseous nitrogen arriving in safety cushions.
Adjusting plate with a lock ring
The adjusting plate with a lock ring serves for fastening of knot of a safety cushion to the generator and sealing of their connection.
For fastening of a casing and installation of all module on a steering wheel the adjusting bracket serves. These details are components of the module of a safety cushion and are not subject to maintenance.
Cover on a steering wheel

Module of a safety cushion of the passenger
The module of a safety cushion of the forward passenger is established in the dashboard directly over a ware box. Having turned out bolts, it is possible to extend the safety cushion module from the dashboard, and then to disconnect from car conducting. Because of this distinction in the sizes the generator of the module of a safety cushion of the passenger more on the size also has a cylindrical form.
Electric system
The system of a safety cushion eats directly from the battery. The system can work at any position of the switch of ignition, including the provisions "VYKL" (OFF) and "ZAPERTO" (LOCK). The system also can work, if sitting of the driver freely. The electric system carries out three main functions:
– registers collision; – tests system for determination of its readiness; – submits a current on a detonator. Malfunction of a safety cushion
If diagnostics revealed malfunction of a safety cushion, it is necessary to replace a faulty safety cushion with the new. Such safety cushion cannot be thrown out simply. It should be returned in KIA motor company for the correct utilization. Do not try to put a safety cushion in action, return it according to the instruction enclosed to a replaceable safety cushion. Car utilization
In some cars which damaged or have been worn out to such an extent that they are not subject to repair, there can be not worked safety cushions. It can occur at blow behind or sideways, during the capsizing or car operation after resource development. Before utilization of the car of a safety cushion it is necessary to put in action according to the procedure described below.
Remote actuating of a safety cushion
This procedure should be applied to preparation for car utilization with not fulfilled safety cushion, however it is inapplicable for cars in which conducting is damaged or there are no some components of system.
Prevention
Remote actuating of a safety cushion should be made out of a room with the personnel being not closer than 6 m, for safety and because of a loud sound by which safety cushion operation is accompanied.

Prevention
Do not place a safety cushion a cover down as force of return at its operation can cause a ricochet and lead to traumas.

Prevention

Prevention

5. Establish a steering wheel, having convinced that it is correctly combined with steering shaft. |
Prevention
The socket with a spiral spring can be damaged, if the steering wheel is established with shift from average situation.

Check, whether the sound signal works. If the sound signal does not work, remove the module of a safety cushion and check connections of sockets of the module of a safety cushion and the switch of a sound signal.
After maintenance of system be convinced of its serviceability, having executed check by means of a control lamp of system of a safety cushion.
If the system is serviceable, the control lamp joins at ignition inclusion, and then through 4–8 with is switched off.
If the lamp remains included or blinks, once again check safety cushion system. |
