2.14. Removal and installation of a gear belt and pulleys

GENERAL INFORMATION

Gear belt of the FE DOHC engine

1–pulley of a quencher of fluctuations;
2–top protective casing of a gear belt;
3–bottom protective casing of a gear belt;
4–directing a gear belt;
5–tension device of a gear belt and spring;
6–single pulley of a gear belt;
7–gear belt;
8–pulleys of camshafts;
9–pulley of a gear belt.

Gear belt of the DOHC T8 engine

1–pulley of the water pump;
2–pulley of a cranked shaft;
3–a directing plate of a gear belt;
4–top protective casing of a gear belt;
5–bottom protective casing of a gear belt;
6–gear belt;
7–tension device of a gear belt and spring;
8–single pulley;
9–pulleys of camshafts;
10-pulley of a gear belt.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The special tool block a flywheel from a provorachivaniye, unscrew a bolt and remove a pulley of a quencher of fluctuations.
2. On the T8 DOHC engine unscrew three bolts and remove a pulley of the water pump.
3. Unscrew screws and remove the top protective casing of a gear belt.
4. Unscrew screws and remove the bottom protective casing of a gear belt.
5. Remove directing a gear belt.
6. Weaken a lock bolt of fastening of the tension device and remove a spring of the tension device.
7. Weaken a lock bolt of fastening of the tension device and remove a spring of the tension device.

Prevention

Note the direction of rotation of a gear belt for repeated installation it in initial situation.

Do not allow hit on an oil or greasing belt.


8. Remove a gear belt.
9. Unscrew a bolt and remove a camshaft pulley, previously a screw-driver having fixed a camshaft from a provorachivaniye.

10. Remove a pulley of a gear belt from a cranked shaft.


Check

CHECK OF THE GEAR BELT

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Replace a gear belt if it is polluted by oil or lubricant.
2. Check a gear belt on absence of damages, wear, stratification, cracks on teeths and in the basis of teeths, and also on defects at end faces and a reverse side of a belt. In the presence of defects, replace a gear belt.

Prevention

Strongly do not bend a gear belt and do not change the direction of its rotation.

Do not allow oil and lubricant to contact with a gear belt as it will lead to its destruction.



THE MECHANISM OF THE TENSION OF THE GEAR BELT AND DIRECTING ROLLER

Check a roller of the mechanism of a tension and directing roller on smoothness of rotation and absence of noise at rotation. If necessary, replace a roller of the mechanism of a tension or directing roller.

Prevention

Do not purge a roller of the mechanism of a tension or a directing roller of a gear belt with use of clearing liquids. Grinding of rollers by pure soft rags is allowed. Do not scratch working surfaces of rollers as it will result in premature wear of a gear belt.


SPRING OF THE MECHANISM OF THE TENSION

Measure length of a spring of the mechanism of a tension in a free condition. If the length of a spring differs from nominal rate, replace it.

Length of a spring in a free condition: 55,6 mm


PULLEYS CRANKED AND CAMSHAFTS

Check pulleys cranked and camshafts on lack of wear, deformation or other defects of teeths and, if necessary, replace them.

 


Prevention

Do not purge pulleys with use of clearing liquids.

If necessary, use for their cleaning pure soft rags.


TOP AND BOTTOM CASINGS OF THE GEAR BELT

Check the top and bottom casings of a gear belt on lack of cracks and, if necessary, replace them.

Installation


PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Establish pulleys of camshafts, thus a label of I camshafts on a pulley of inlet valves and label Е on a pulley of a camshaft of final valves should be combined with adjusting pins.
2. Fix pulleys of camshafts bolts, thus a wrench for лыски hold camshafts from a provorachivaniye.

Inhaling moment:
FE DOHC: 47–65 N • m
Т8 DOHC: 49–60,8 N • m

3. Combine adjusting labels on pulleys of camshafts with adjusting labels on a plate of consolidations.

Prevention

At installation of a pulley of a camshaft from inlet valves, combine a label of "I". At installation of a pulley of a camshaft from final valves combine the label "Е".


4. Change the direction of operation of the special tool blocking a flywheel from a provorachivaniye.
5. Establish a shponka on a cranked shaft.
6. Establish a pulley of a gear belt on a cranked shaft.

Inhaling moment: 157–167 N • m

7. Remove the special tool blocking a flywheel from a provorachivaniye.
8. Combine an adjusting label on a pulley of a gear belt with a label on a pump arm.
9. Establish a single pulley of a gear belt.

Inhaling moment: 37–52 N • m

10. Establish the tension device of a gear belt and a spring of the tension device.
11. Fix the tension device in situation at which the spring is completely stretched.
12. Establish a gear belt so that it was tense from the tension device and between two pulleys of camshafts.

Prevention

If the gear belt is used repeatedly, it is necessary to establish it so that it rotated in the initial direction. Check, that on a belt there was no oil, greasing or pollution.


13. Weaken a bolt of fastening of the tension device.
14. Turn a cranked shaft on two turns in the rotation direction.
15. Check correctness of combination of adjusting labels. If labels are combined incorrectly, remove a gear belt and the tension device and repeatedly establish it.
16. Turn a cranked shaft before combination of a label of "S" on the right side of a pulley of a cranked shaft with an adjusting label on a directing plate (FE DOHC). Turn a cranked shaft on two turns in the rotation direction to check correctness of combination of an adjusting mark in a pulley of a gear belt with a label on an arm of the oil pump (Т8 DOHC).
17. Tighten a bolt of fastening of the tension device of a gear belt.

Inhaling moment: 37–52 N • m

18. Check a deflection of a gear belt. If the deflection does not correspond to technical requirements, weaken a lock bolt of the tension device and repeat the stages 3-5 described above. If necessary replace a spring of the tension device.

Belt deflection:
FE DOHC: 7,5–8,5 mm / 98 N (10 kgfs)
Т8 DOHC: 9,0–11,5 mm / 98 N (10 kgfs)
19. Establish directing plate of a gear belt on a pulley of a gear belt of a cranked shaft.
20. Establish the bottom and top protective casings of a gear belt and new laying.

Inhaling moment:
FE DOHC: 6,86–9,8 N • m
Т8 DOHC: 7,84–10,8 N • m
