2.2. Engine description


The FE DOHC engine (Т8 DOHC) represents the four-cylinder engine with the top arrangement of valves with extent of compression 9,2 (9,5).

The head of cylinders is made of the aluminum alloy possessing high heat conductivity and heat resistance, and supplied with multispherical chambers of combustion with four valves on each cylinder.

The block of cylinders is cast from cast iron and has no sleeves. The cranked shaft leans on five bearings, lobbies and back epiploons of a cranked shaft of not folding design. Piston fingers are pressed in a small head of a rod and have floating landing in piston lugs. In a big head of a rod replaceable loose leaves of shatunny bearings are established. Flutes in a core of a rod and its cover provide intake of greasing to walls of the cylinder and make piston cooling.

Greasing under pressure is carried out by means of the oil pump located before cranked shaft. Oil arrives via the entrance filter of the pump, the pump and the polnopotochny filter to radical and shatunny bearings of a cranked shaft, bearings of a camshaft and klapanny yokes.

The engine is equipped with consecutive multichannel system of injection of fuel (SFI), hydraulic jacks are applied To compensation of a thermal gap of valves.

For ensuring circulation of cooling liquid and cooling of the engine the water pump established in a forward part of the block of cylinders is used. The temperature of cooling liquid is regulated by the thermostat located on a taking-away branch pipe of a water shirt of the engine in front of the block of cylinders.

The fan which is switched on depending on temperature of the engine, is established in a forward part of a motor compartment. Management of turning on of the fan is carried out by a bimetallic temperature-sensitive element.


Check and adjust the engine as it is described below.


1. Check, whether there is no corrosion on plugs or weakening of their connections with wires. In case of need clear and tighten plugs.
2. Be convinced that level of electrolit is between UPPER and LOWER marks. If it is required, add the distilled water.
3. By means of the areometer measure electrolit density. If the density decreased to 1,200 or below, put the battery on a charging.
