5.10. Preliminary checks of the engine

GENERAL INFORMATION

Check and adjust the engine as it is described below.

ENGINE OIL

By means of oil щупа check level of oil and its condition. If it is required, add or replace oil.


LEVEL OF COOLING LIQUID (CHECK ON THE COLD ENGINE)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check, whether there is a level of cooling liquid at level of a jellied opening of a radiator.
2. Be convinced that level of cooling liquid is in a broad tank between FULL and LOW labels.

STORAGE BATTERY

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Check, whether there is no corrosion on plugs or weakening of their connections with wires. In case of need clear and tighten plugs.
2. Be convinced that level of electrolit is between UPPER and LOWER marks. If it is required, add the distilled water.
3. By means of the areometer measure electrolit density. If the density decreased to 1,200 or below, put the battery on a charging.

FILTERING ELEMENT OF THE AIR FILTER

Examine an element to establish, whether there is no excessive dirt, damages or oil. In case of need clear or replace it.


Prevention

When cleaning an element of the air filter at first completely remove a dust from its internal surface, and then – with external.



CHECK OF THE CORNER OF THE ADVANCING OF IGNITION

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Warm up the engine and let's to it work idling.
2. Establish the gear shifting lever in neutral situation
3. Establish forward wheels in average situation.
4. Disconnect everything consumers of the electric power.
5. Attach the socket of a stroboscope and the special KJ-1 device.
6. Direct stroboscope light on a pulley of a cranked shaft and be convinced that a label for installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition on a pulley of a cranked shaft (yellow) is combined with the corresponding label on a casing of a gear belt.

Corner of an advancing of ignition:
FE DOHC: 10±1 ° to VMT
Т8 DOHC: 10±3 ° to VMT

Prevention

There is no need to change installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition.



FREQUENCY OF ROTATION OF THE CRANKED SHAFT OF THE ENGINE IDLING

Measure frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft of the engine idling.

Frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft of the engine idling:

FE DOHC 800±50 of mines-1
Т8 DOHC 800±50 of mines-1


Prevention

Frequency of rotation of a cranked shaft of the engine is idling supported automatically by the control unit the engine (RSM) by means of the electromagnetic valve of idling (IAC) and in adjustment of frequency of rotation idling there is no need.
